I went to boarding school at age 13, when my father was posted abroad, and did grades 9 to 13 there. I still say it was the best five years of my life (except, diplomatically, in the presence of my wife). Not only was it great school in so many ways, but above all it gave me, as an only child, a huge “family” that I would otherwise have never known. I may have been a little homesick at first, but frankly I don’t even remember that part. John
