Hi John, I am happy to help. Depending on whether you continue to have residential ties to Canada and/or seen as a resident of another country under a tax treaty that Canada has with that other country, you may be able to be seen as a non-resident of Canada for tax purposes as of your departure date. Please contact me at (416) 214-7833 ext.102 or email me at arun.nagratha@trowbridge.ca and I am happy to discuss your particular situation. If you have filed incorrectly in the past, the prior year tax filings can still be amended. I am happy to help you determine if you are eligible to file as a non-resident at no charge.
Best Regards
Ernie
