  1. Wayne, as the sole owner of a corporation, I perform all my oilfield work overseas as an employee. Would I qualify for the OETC providing all the requirements you mentioned above were met?

  2. Wayne,

I am a Canadian Citizen and currently negotiating an employment opportunity with an Engineering Firm in Saudi Arab. My family would be staying here and I will work in Saudi Arab. Will be coming back to canada every 3 months. Bottom line is that I will be maintaining my Residency status in canada and I will work oversease. It is an Australian based company with offices worldwide including Canada but i will be hired by their Saudi Arab Office.

Question for you: Would I qualify for OETC?

    Thanks

  3. Imran,

    Thanks for your question.

In order to qualify you would have to be working for a specified employer which generally speaking is either a corporation resident in Canada, or a foreign affiliate of a corporation resident in Canada. Based on the information provided above it does not appear that the Saudi company would qualify as a specified employer and thus it appears that you would not qualify for the OETC.

    I hope this helps,

    Wayne
