Well done Judy!
Great to hear of fellow Canadians succeeding beyond the borders.
Be Awesome!

I have a question regarding your citizenship. Since you have been in the US so long and because of your situation did you retain your Canadian Citizenship or do you have both Canadian and US? I see that you do plan to return to Canada.

I have Canadian citizenship only. I married an American in 1988, but did not apply for a green card for many years, as I didn’t need one while I worked for the Embassy, which needed my services right away and got me an A-2 visa that enabled me to do so.
When I realized that I might like to be eligible for other employment options, I applied for a green card/resident alien status based on my husband’s petition on my behalf. The application took two years to complete, as BCIS was in post-911 turmoil and the Virginia office, which was where I had to apply, was especially besieged with backlog.
And…I had a law firm handle the hundreds of pages of application. Worth every penny to have it done right.
