New Diplomatic Appointments - September 14th, 2009
There are just two new diplomatic appointments this time around. Both appointments are in Africa and the Canadian Expat Association would like to congratulate the two Ambassadors.
Ethiopia ~ Michèle Lévesque becomes Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Ms. Lévesque has been involved in some capacity with the department of Foreign Affairs since 1984 when she joined CIDA. Her work has taken her to New York with the UN, to Senegal and to Côte d’Ivoire (both locations as ambassador). Ms. Lévesque succeeds Janet Graham.
Cameroon ~ Jean-Carol Pelletier becomes High Commissioner to the Republic of Cameroon.
Although Mr. Pelletier began working for DFAIT in 1990, he has been involved in international work for quite some time. The vast majority of that time has been spent in Francophone Africa. He has spent time with DFAIT in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) and Burkina Faso. He succeeds Jean-Pierre Lavoie.
